Description
We are looking for volunteers to enjoy the warm weather while also assisting DMARC with Produce Collection at the Downtown Farmers Market.
DMARC partner with the Farmers Market to promote the Meals from the Market Program. In 2022, alone, DMARC provided over 1,116,615 pounds of fresh produce to families in the DSM metro.
WE NEED YOUR HELP to collect fresh produce from participating Downtown Farmers Market vendors. See the details below!
Meals From the Market
11 AM - 1 PM
All volunteers please arrive a few minutes before your shift and meet at the Meals from the Market bright yellow tent, located near the corner of 3rd and Court. We are directly next to the Market Information Booth. Look for DMARC Staff members for further instructions.
12-15 Volunteers
- Volunteers will be divided in to different groups, based off of the need for collection.
- 3 Zones for pickup have been established
- Additional Pick up locations may be needed i.e. a large amount of corn
- Volunteers will be given:
- Maps for the zone for pick up
- Receipt Books for tracking donations
- Large wagons and bins for collection
- After/During collection:
- All donations will be brought to the DMARC Truck located on the North end of Walnut.
Support/Training:
A briefing about the process for collection will be conducted before volunteers are asked to collect. DMARC Staff is there to assist at all times.
Qualifications:
We do collect from all parts of the market. Walking is a must. We will be pulling the wagon, lifting bins in to the wagons, and writing receipts. We will try to pair teams together to the best of our abilities to make accommodations.
Age Requirement:
All volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 and over) at all times during the volunteer shift.
