Description

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support & research. Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, and almost two thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women. Alzheimer’s is the only cause of death in the top 10 in America that cannot be prevented, cured, or slowed.

Your support changes lives locally by enhancing care and support through education programs and support groups, advancing research as the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research and advocating for change fighting for critical Alzheimer’s research, prevention and care initiations at the state and federal level.

The Des Moines walk is Saturday September 16th in front of the state capital, registration will begin at 8:00 am. T-Shirts and breakfast will be provided at the event.

Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals or groups who are interested in supporting the event in the following areas: Alzheimer’s Advocacy, Walk Route Monitors, Promise Garden Flower, Drop Off Lane, Remembrance Pavilion Activities, Garbage & Recycling Monitors, Team Photos, T-Shirt Pick Up, Thank You Brigade, Merchandise Tent, Wristband Checker, Greeter, Refreshments Tent, Kids Activities, Grand Champions Club.
