Event Description: Ready to roll up your sleeves and make a difference? Join us as we come together to build sheds for deserving members of our community who are in need of storage at their home!
Earlier this year in April, HOME, Inc. was at the Build My Future event, an expo of the trades for students from all over Iowa. 7,000 students came to try their hand at different trades and learn about all the opportunities that exist. HOME, Inc. provided a framing demo building wall panels and the students were able to build enough for 6 sheds!
On July 24th we will be final building of the sheds on each homeowner’s property!
What to Expect: Hands-on work with a team to set up
the platform, raise and assemble the walls, hang the door, put up the
trusses, shingle, and then paint. Working with power tools. No prior
construction experience is necessary! Our team partnered with Hildreth
Construction Services will provide guidance and training throughout the
project.
What to Bring:
- Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy, close-toed shoes (crocs, birkenstocks, and similar shoes are not considered close toed shoes.)
- Work gloves - (we will have some for you to borrow but if you want your own bring them)
- A reuseable water bottle to stay hydrated
- Sunscreen
- A willingness to help!
