Hello there! Thank you for volunteering with Iowa Homeless Youth Center (IHYC)! IHYC, a YSS organization is a non-profit community based center. We rely a lot on donated goods and services from community partners, especially around the holidays. Through our Holiday Giving Trees, we received many items that are frequently used by our programs here in Des Moines. All these items need to be inventoried and cataloged.
By myself, it'll take me a long time to get this done. But with the help of volunteers, this effort can be done in a few hours. Roles
Runner/Sorting Donations: You'll help move the donations from their current holding space into the common area. From there you'll help sort the items by program based on the tags that are attached. Once the items are cataloged, you'll move them to their final location.
Use Laptop to Catalog Donations: Please bring a laptop that can access an Excel spreadsheet from OneDrive that I'll share with you when you arrive. Other volunteers will bring items to you, and you'll count/tally them in the spreadsheet.
