United Way of Central Iowa is coordinating volunteer services for the influx of refugees that will be coming to our state over the next few months.
Our community is poised to welcome 1,000 or more refugees from Afghanistan through March 2022. The Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa is coordinating the efforts of our community's three resettlement agencies.
Because of the large number of people who are coming in such a short amount of time, our community's three resettlement agencies (Catholic Charities, Lutheran Services in Iowa, and United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants) are facing a critical shortage of manpower.
These agencies are in desperate need of volunteers to help in a variety of ways. Please browse our volunteer opportunities and choose one that works for you.
Note: The refugee resettlement agencies are at capacity and cannot answer phone calls with questions. Please try to direct your assistance through this portal.
