Who We Are
Partners in Family Development is a non-profit organization founded in 2007, and strives to provide services and education to families with the intention of sharing ideas, strategies, and support. Almost all services and programs are provided free of charge. Partners in Family Development is affiliated with Parents As Teachers and provides assistance and resources to parents from prenatal care and throughout their young, developing age. Partners in Family Development brings research-backed programming and passionate educators to help you navigate the new challenges of parenting. We take a hands-on approach to empowering parents in their role as their child's first and most important teacher. We do this through programs such as Parents As Teachers and Nurturing Fathers In Action. Our mission is to empower parents to be advocates for their children. We offer resources and services for you to enrich your child's learning environment. Each individual learns in a unique way, and we promise to guide that learning in the early years of your child's life.
What We Do
Parents As Teachers (PAT) is an early childhood parent education and family support program which serves families with children throughout pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten. PAT services are currently available in Dallas, Madison and Warren counties. All services are offered at no charge to residents. Funding is provided by 4RKids Early Childhood Iowa Area. The Parents as Teachers program is designed to offer developmental information and support to all parents of infants and young children. The goal of the program is to help parents give their child the best possible start in life. Parents as Teachers uses four ways to partner with parents to help each child reach his or her potential: • Personal visits -- during which your parent educator will share age-appropriate child development and parenting information, help you lean to observe your child and address your parenting concerns. • Parent Group Connections --an opportunity to share information about parenting issues and child development. • Developmental Screenings -- to assess your child's overall development. • Resource Network -- that links your family to other community services.
