Who We Are

Iowa Gardening for Good is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing food insecurity. We operate a community-supported vegetable farm where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to grow healthy food for Iowa families. Our organization is built on service, teamwork, and the belief that fresh produce should be accessible to everyone. Our volunteers come from schools, church groups, corporate groups, service organizations, families and individuals. We grow over 200,000+ lbs. of produce each year that is donated to food banks and pantries for little or no charge.

What We Do

Iowa Gardening for Good (IGFG) grows fresh vegetables on our 15 acre nonprofit farm to support food-insecure families primarily in the Des Moines area. Each growing season, our volunteers help us plant, weed, harvest, prepare, and deliver produce that is donated directly to our food pantry partners. Every hour of volunteer work directly increases the amount of healthy food available to children, seniors, immigrants, the working poor and anyone else struggling to access fresh produce. We create a hands-on, welcoming farm experience where individuals and groups (2-150 people) can make a meaningful impact in a single visit—no farming experience required.
