As a recognized leader in affordable housing, Anawim Housing works to end homelessness and provide unhoused neighbors with a place to call home. Today, Anawim Housing proudly stands as the largest provider of Permanent Supportive Housing in Iowa, operating under the Housing First model. This evidence-based approach emphasizes meeting basic needs—like secure housing and access to food first—so individuals can effectively address other challenges such as employment, income stability, recovery from substance use, or physical and mental health. The Housing First model is rooted in the belief that client choice is essential.
