Who We Are

Our vision is to reduce waste by recycling books, transforming them into opportunities to raise funds directed toward the education, health, and empowerment of young girls and women throughout Iowa. We strive to create a sustainable cycle where every book sold finds a new home and contributes to meaningful causes in our community. We aim to foster a culture of knowledge and empathy by promoting literacy and encouraging reading.

What We Do

Iowa's Biggest Book Sale is a volunteer-only run nonprofit (EIN 99-3025801) that started in May 2024. Our goal is to revive the tradition of what was formerly the Planned Parenthood Book Sale, but with a new partner organization(s). The IBBS volunteers have been working for over a year to bring this event back to life within the community. To bring such a large event back from scratch in a year is a massive undertaking and many things behind the scenes need to take place before things can run as smoothly as it was before. Iowa's Biggest Book Sale volunteers have been working around the clock to secure a warehouse, book donation drop site, and volunteers to begin the process of hosting a Book Sale. Iowa's Biggest Book Sale's purpose is to empower our community to make a difference through the power of reading and giving back. Creating a brand new event and partnership(s) takes time and care. We at IBBS want to ensure that book sale proceeds that go back into the community support a cause that is important to our volunteers and donors.
