Girls Rock! Des Moines

Established in 2013, Girls Rock! Des Moines empowers cisgender girls, women, non-binary, trans youth, and adults through self-expression, artistic agency, creative autonomy, and mentoring in music and arts education, collaboration, performance, and production. GR!DSM provides an environment that embodies social justice, nurtures individual identity, and fosters community building and confidence by developing musical and arts-based knowledge and abilities, connecting with peers and mentors, and modeling intersectional feminism.

Girls Rock! Des Moines teaches cisgender girls, trans youth, gender nonconforming youth ages 6-18 and adults  how to rock, record, and run the show. We offer several types of year round programming. Our flagship program is a two week summer rock camp where campers learn an instrument, join a band, write an original song, then perform at a rock concert at the end of camp. GR!DSM offers year round programming such as: community rock bands for both youth and adults; private lessons; social events; weekend retreats; workshops; and open mic nights.
