The Guest Service Representative role at the Science Center of Iowa is a vital role to the first impression a participant gets.  The Guest Service Representative will be stationed near the front doors to welcome participants to SCI, hand out a daily programs schedule, and direct participants to where they need to go. 

 

Duties:

Welcome participants to the Science Center of Iowa by handing them a daily programs schedule and directing them where they need to go Be knowledgeable about all special events, classes, presentations and programs that are going on at the Science Center of Iowa; the Guest Service Representative should be able to answer any participant questions about the daily activities Help participants plan their time at SCI; be able to suggest different shows and demonstrations to visitors depending on age, interests and time availability

 

Qualifications:

Enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds Good communication skills and friendly, outgoing personality Comfortable approaching all participants and initiating conversation Punctuality and dependability are key

Understand and support the purpose, structure, and policies of the Science Center of Iowa Offer the use of your skills or experience Conduct yourself in accordance with the standards of conduct and ethics of SCI Complete any orientation or on-the-job training required Be flexible in accepting assignments, perform assigned responsibilities willingly and courteously to the best of your ability, and accept the guidance of the Volunteer Manager Comply with the time and dress requirements of the Science Center of Iowa Obey all security and safety rules of the Science Center of Iowa Respect the confidentiality of sensitive information Provide timely notification of tardiness or absence to the Volunteer Manager Serve as a goodwill ambassador of the Science Center of Iowa to the community
