Volunteer: Johnston Gives - Give a gift, Spread joy!

Help us bring joy to others this holiday season!

Gift joy to families in need through our Johnston Gives program. The Johnston Partnership, in cooperation with the Johnston Community School District, provides a gift card for households with school-aged kids who see more hardship than joy at the holiday season. Last year, we helped over 500 students, and we anticipate this year will be the much more. $50 helps sponsor 1 child, but any dollar amount is helpful. 

 

Monetary donations can come to us many ways: Mail a check to PO Box 975, Johnston, IA 50131, including Johnston Gives on the memo line. Drop off in person at our Food Pantry (5870 Merle Hay Rd, Ste C) during operating hours – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 9am-1pm or Tuesdays 4-6pm. Volunteer: JUMP Mentors Make the Difference for Johnston Students

Growing up is only getting more complicated. Children in grades 6-12 have big and small choices to make every day. As a JUMP mentor, you can be the listening ear and positive role model for a Johnston student. Meeting for 1 class period each week during the school day, you will help a young person set goals, reinforce basic skills and chart a positive course for his or her life. Staff will provide training and any support you need along the way. Applications are mailed to anyone interested.  A basic background check is completed before matching with a student.
