We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated community members to join our board.
We are looking for people with different talents and skills including, but not limited to, marketing, volunteer management, fundraising, legal, graphic design, business leadership, etc.
In this role you will advise, govern, and oversee policy and direction for the organization as well as assist with the promotion of Iowa Youth Chorus and support the organization’s mission and needs.
About Iowa Youth Chorus:
The Iowa Youth Chorus (IYC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the highest level of artistic training to the youth of central Iowa. IYC provides world-class choral education where young singers can develop skills in choral singing, music theory, and artistic expression. Major Responsibilities:
• Serve as an IYC ambassador and assist with IYC visibility and marketing.
• Promote the organization’s mission, values, and programs
• Long-term planning for Iowa Youth Chorus growth and development
• Fundraising and outreach
• Financial management including reviewing and approving the annual budget
• Policy development for IYC programs and procedures
• Attend board meetings on a regular basis
• Actively participate in committee work
• Staff development and oversight of personnel
• Adhere to the Board's Give or Get Policy in order to demonstrate our IYC internal commitment to the broader community and funders.
Term length:
Iowa Youth Chorus Board Members serve a three-year term and are eligible for one additional consecutive term.
Meeting Times and Commitment:
• The Board of Directors meets monthly for at least 10 months of the year at a time agreeable to the majority
• Board Members actively participate and support at least one committee based on interest/area of expertise
• Board Members are asked to attend Iowa Youth Chorus fundraising events and performances as often as possible
Qualifications:
• Commitment to supporting Iowa Youth Chorus mission and programs
• Desire to support choral education opportunities for central Iowa youth
• Results-oriented individual dedicated to achieving defined objectives
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with others
• Professional experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: music, business management, finance, accounting, real-estate, technology, law
