Purpose: Volunteers will provide support and be a point of contact for family and friends, at the desk in the surgery waiting lobby and other lobbies in procedural areas.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and welcoming lounge area
- Answer phone
- Pass along messages and questions between patient care team and patient friends and family members - excluding clinical information and other details according to HIPPA guidelines.
- Monitor supply of coffee, Kleenex and other comfort items used by people in the waiting room
- Provide directions to additional hospital locations and services
Skills/Experience:
- Excellent communication skills, prior customer service preferred
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365 products
- Ability to use a phone
- Ability to pass a criminal and offender background check and volunteer health screening
Training Required:
- Successful completion of identified training modules as identified by the department
- Attend a new volunteer orientation
- Complete required annual trainings as assigned, maintain any necessary certifications or licenses, and participate in trainings as identified.
