Event Description
Join us for a meaningful day of service as we come together to help an elderly woman who is facing an emotionally challenging transition. Our goal is to assist in cleaning out her home, which has become overwhelmed with belongings over the years due to circumstances that have made it difficult for her to manage. This house is scheduled for demolition, but before it goes, we want to ensure any cherished family heirlooms, photographs, and valuables are safely recovered.
This woman has no remaining family to help her, so we’re stepping up to lend a hand. This project is not just about cleaning; it’s about bringing emotional comfort and dignity to a woman who has faced loneliness and loss.
What to Expect:- Teamwork: Volunteers will work in groups to sift through different areas of the home, sorting items into categories: those that need to be saved or disposed of.
- Emotional Support: This process can be overwhelming, so we’ll be there to provide emotional support and camaraderie.
- Careful Handling: We will treat all belongings with respect and care as we search for cherished family heirlooms, old photographs, and other valuable items.
What to Bring:
- Comfortable clothing and sturdy, close-toed shoes
- Work gloves (we’ll provide some, but feel free to bring your own)
- A reusable water bottle full of water
- An open heart and a willingness to help!
What We Provide:
- All necessary cleaning supplies, tools, and PPE including coveralls and shoe covers.
- N95 Masks (for potential mold and smell)
- A HOME, Inc. Day of Service Volunteer T-shirt! (Register before August 23rd to get your size, otherwise you will receive whatever is available.)
- A warm sense of community and the chance to positively impact someone's life.

After an incredible two days of volunteering, you're invited to come unwind, celebrate our hard work, and get to know each other better! We'll enjoy some comradery, and to keep the fun going, we’ll have a lively game of Musical Bingo with some exciting prizes up for grabs!
