Opportunities From: United Way of Central Iowa

Volunteer: Read local news aloud - help blind and print disabled

You’re going to read the local daily paper anyway - here’s your opportunity to help others while you’re at it. Lend your voice to IRIS - a statewide radio station providing readings of local and national print publications for the blind and print disabled. We’re reading from seven cities, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Can we welcome you to the team in Des Moines, Cedar Falls, Mason City, Iowa City, Fort Dodge, Sioux City or Ames? You don't have to be theatrical or have a broadcaster voice. We are looking for everyday people to do this extraordinary service. Given we read seven days a week, it’s easy to find a shift that works for you!

Our primary requirement is dependability. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
