Volunteer: Volunteer Scribe

We need a person who is willing to simply type down what will become the process for volunteers to monitor and respond to our phone text messages and phone emails, our social media in boxes, and our website chat messages. This person would need to have time to meet in person or virtually with the Executive Director for this task. This will be an ongoing task until the entire process is documented so that the communication volunteer positions can be listed. This person would also need to write down the process for the volunteer coordinator as well. The volunteer coordinator will be the person to manage the communication volunteers.

Volunteer: Volunteer Drivers

We have a program called Youth Healthy Relationships. The program is weekly for 8 consecutive weeks. The youth, ages 11 - 18, are there for 2 hours per week. They may be located in Polk county or even surrounding counties, such as Story, Dallas, etc. Plan for 4-5 hours daily when you volunteer for the total time spent. The location varies weekly as we meet in the places where the youth want to eat so we can feed them and/or we choose a local library room that's large enough for the group. You will receive the update 1 week before so you will know each week where you're headed.

As a driver, you will need to pass some background checks and will have to be clear on this background check for pedophilia or other sex-related crimes, you will have to have a clean driving record (we will check MVR and you will need to be willing to accept payment for the MVR check). You will need to have $100/$300 liability insurance and will need to have comp/coll coverage on your vehicle.

This program helps youth of color who are often children of Black women domestic violence survivors by giving them a knowledge base for healthy relationships, thereby aiding in CDC-encouraged strategies for prevention of future DV.

If you have further questions at any point in the process, you are welcome to reach out for additional questions at courageousaccess@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Volunteer: Donate to support Black women survivors and co-survivors

We'd love to tell you that it isn't harder for Black women dealing with and recovering after domestic violence (DV); unfortunately, it is. The biggest, most expensive needs we've identified are as follows:

Rent/mortgage  Deposits for rent/moving costs/emergency housing  Utilities Gas Childcare

We are a 501(c)3 so your donations are tax deductible; we always provide IRS-compliant receipts. We have 2 ways you can give as an individual, and monthly/annual giving available for organizations. To see more about the programs with which we have been able to assist over 50 families so far, click here
