You’re invited to Snyder Heritage Farm, a 154-acre natural area, for a restorative fall experience that blends nature and sound. We’ll start the evening with an introduction to Snyder Heritage Farm and its unique prairie landscape, then head into the prairie to hand-harvest native seeds that will help expand and diversify the ecosystem. As the sun sets we'll end with a calming sound bath to ground our senses and bring a peaceful end to the experience.

WHAT TO BRING AND EXPECT FOR THE SOUND BATH
A Sound Bath is a deeply immersive and meditative experience that uses sound to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing. During a sound bath, participants lay down in a comfortable position on a yoga mat or blanket while a facilitator plays various instruments such as crystal quartz bowls, gongs, chimes, and other instruments. The sounds from these instruments create a sense of harmony and alignment in the body, mind, and spirit. Learn more about the Sound Bath Practitioner.
· You can bring anything you would feel comfortable laying on. This could be a yoga mat, or a blanket and pillow
· 45 minutes of harmonic bliss after we harvest seed from the prairie.
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR THE HARVEST
Harvesting seeds can be done using your hands or clippers, gathering them into buckets and/or bags. This activity is beloved by our volunteers for its tranquility and the chance to connect more deeply with the prairie. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about and appreciate this special ecosystem.
NEEDED ATTIRE & EQUIPMENT FOR THE HARVEST
· Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or hiking boots
· Long pants and layers. You may be working with thorny plants so sturdy clothes that can withstand rips (or you don't mind ripping) are encouraged.
· Work gloves (Leather is best - we'll have some extras if needed)
· Water bottle
· Feel free to bring other desired items like a hiking stick, binoculars, field guide and/or camera, if you like!

Please note: All volunteers are encouraged to work at their own pace and comfort level.
· No experience necessary
· Children and families welcome
· There is a Porta-Potty onsite
· This site may have ticks, poison ivy, mosquitoes, plants with thorns or other natural hazards
· You will be asked to acknowledge a liability waiver when you register

For over 30 years, Snyder Heritage Farm has been slowly transitioning from a traditional farm back to a blend of prairie, oak savanna, woodland and wetland ecosystems. It is now a 154-acre natural area just north of the Des Moines metro. Snyder Heritage Farm is stewarded by Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
