HIRTA

Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (HIRTA) is a quasi-governmental agency, created by a 28E agreement with the State of Iowa. We are the state designated transit system for Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Story and Warren counties.

Our Mission: Provide customer-focused community transportation with a commitment to excellence in safety and service promoting independent lifestyles for Central Iowa residents. 

Our Vision: To become the transit provider of choice making a positive difference by enhancing community livability through safe, innovative, sustainable regional transportation options and promoting independent lifestyles for Central Iowa residents. 

We provide public transportation in Boone, Dallas, Madison, Marion, Jasper, Story, and Warren. 

In Madison and Marion county, we are AmeriCorps Seniors grantee for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) where volunteers are connected with volunteer opportunities in the community. We provide volunteer medical transportation as part of our program. 

In Boone, Dallas, and Warren counties, we have partnered with Boone county RSVP and the United Way of Central Iowa to provide volunteer medical transportation.
