PORCH Inc fights food insecurity by creating sustainable hunger relief programs at the local level. Started in 2010 in Chapel Hill, NC, PORCH has grown into a repeatable model of monthly neighborhood food drives and fresh produce distribution supplying food pantries, schools, and community programs across the country. PORCH’s volunteer network of 50 chapters in 12 states, has contributed more than $12 million dollars in hunger relief.
What We Do
PORCH is a simple and flexible hunger-relief model that allows volunteers to commit as much or as little time as they have available. It’s very easy to start a PORCH chapter, and with the help of your neighbors in this grassroots effort, you can make a real difference for those who are facing food insecurity in your town or region. Monthly neighborhood food drives run by volunteers are at the heart of what we do.
Our flagship program PORCH for Pantries consists of running monthly neighborhood food drives to supply non-perishable goods to local food pantries and families in need. Individual PORCH chapters may choose to participate in additional programs, as their time and resources allow.
