Nutrition 4 Young Children

Our mission: Educate and connect families to maximize the health and well-being of children prebirth through age 5 in Polk County, Iowa. Our goal is to show community support for struggling young parents and to encourage them to participate in local events and programs that will enhance their children's well-being and brain development.

Nutrition 4 Young Children (N4YC) sponsors eight virtual "Healthy Baby Showers" a year, in English and Spanish, for pregnant women with limited incomes. The "shower" is a prenatal nutrition lesson and an overview of community resources for young families. The attendees receive a a backpack of baby supplies worth about $150. N4YC also offers parents an informational website, a Face Book page, and a twice-monthly e-newsletter.
